Consumer Value Stores (CVS) is a major drugstore chain in the Northeastern United States. As a part of CVS’s on-going store improvement and fleet enhancement program, Mr. Schaffer evaluated dozens of sites in Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey while with a previous firm. In addition to due diligence, permitting, and feasibility studies, he completed design plans for a variety of sites ranging from new construction to store upgrades and drive-through retro-fits. Design challenges included consideration of unique truck maneuvering patterns, special solid waste management equipment, construction phasing and traffic control, and optimizing severely constrained parking lot layouts and vehicle circulation patterns.
